HIMSS22: High Hopes

Ambitions of A First-Time Attendee

Just a few days left before HIMSS’22 in Orlando and I, as a first time attendee, have a lot of expectations set. What lies before me is somewhat unclear; the intensity promises to be high and I am definitely looking forward to meeting the industry leading professionals in person.

COVID has changed the way we think about meetings, and Zoom has been tremendously helpful , but nothing can beat in-person conversations. Above all, I am so hopeful we are getting close to the end of this way too long pandemic challenge.

Seems like HIMSS’22 will be quite busy with a good number of participants, though not all will be attending in person. Almost the whole Chilmark team will be there and I am predicting some fun discussions and insightful meetings. For the past few weeks I have been seeing a growing excitement among people who are going to attend; this is a good sign, isn’t it?

As far as my expectations go: I will try to get the most out of it that I can. The schedule looks packed and I expect to get a colorful piece from every single person I interact with, and by the end of HIMSS’22 I hope I will be able to build an up-to-date mosaic of what is going on in the healthcare IT world.

It is very inspiring to hear vendors talk about their products, to put yourself in their shoes and see the work behind it all; to hear more of the industry’s needs and challenges. For me, it will be another point of growth for sure. Also, I have no doubts there will be plenty of good takeaways to rethink some of the research vectors to meet even more of the needs of the industry we work in.

Ok, HIMSS’22—I believe in you. I can’t wait to see it all in action and to test my expectations.

Safe travels to all attendees!
